A Rose By Any Other Name (Pt. 2)
by Rachel on Dec.30, 2008, under Chicago Bulls
When I wrote this first post about Derrick Rose, I hadn’t intended it to be an ongoing series… but then Derrick Rose had a season/career high 13 assists, the Bulls beat New Jersey for the first time in 7 years, and I discovered Maxim Hometown Hottie April Rose. Not only does April share the surname of my (current) favorite baller, but she is from Chicago and bouncing her way around the Chicago Huddle Bears talk show.
I’ve heard it wasn’t a great game for certain bench players. But once again, Derrick Rose was the Bulls best player, and that at least gives us hope for the future, right?
Blog-A-Bull seems fairly convinced there will be a trade, and I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to that. What I’d like to see if getting a taller shooting guard back for Ben Gordon (and add in someone like Andres Nocioni). Gordon is playing really well right now, but I’m still feeling like he’s just not going to be able to take the Bulls (with Rose) to the next level. So, this would be a good time to trade him. Of course, a quick look at the salaries tells me that most teams would probably be foolish to take Nocioni since he’s signed for a fairly unreasonable amount through 2012. Drew Gooden will be done at the end of this year, so packaging him with Gordon would provide some other team with some good expiring contracts. That, or we could suck it up next year in the hopes of landing Dwyane Wade. Wade + Rose would be probably the most wicked backcourt in the league, and with the two Chicago boys playing together, I bet the tickets would be gone in a second (not good for me, but certainly good for the management).

Oh wow, you happened to do April Rose, too. She’s our final Babe-A-Day! for the year.
About Derrick Rose : What do you think of Rose playing off the ball? I’m not convinced he’s a championship point guard, because I see him as a guy whose instinct is hell-bent on slashing and getting to the rim, rather than passing, a la Magic or Kidd. Or even Bird or LeBron.
I think Rose would look perfect like to someone like Chauncey Billups. Just a thought.
P.S. Thanks for the link.
