Oops, watch out! Lame post name!
Since this is supposed to be a sports blog (I know, doesn’t look like it right?), here is my ode to Derrick Rose. First off, DaBullz.com has a nice brief game recap from yesterday. I was going to go to a bar or something to watch the game, but it was cold and there was various forms of freezing precipitation going on, so I stayed home.
From what I’ve read, though (and what I’ve seen in the games I’ve watched) Derrick Rose is the Bulls. Yes, Ben Gordon has been playing well (especially compared to last year). But the rest of the Bulls seem content to continue the slumps they started last year while Rose just zips through the lane and dishes the ball around the court. DaBullz says he broke Andre Miller’s ankles at one point. Now, Andre Miller is getting a little old, so it’s probably not as hard to do as it used to be, but still, ankle-breaking is something to respect.
The problem with Derrick Rose being the man in Chicago is that we’ve had (since 2000) eight Top 10 draft picks (6 of which were in the Top 4). With those kind of odd, it’s more than mildly unacceptable that they’ve only had 2 winning seasons in 8 years. I mean, maybe it’s just because I am spoiled by a tradition of winning rather than a tradition of mediocrity, but (let me look up some stuff real quick to see if I can prove my point), the Warriors have had only four Top 10 picks and they’ve had 2 winning seasons as well. The Raptors also had four Top 10 picks and have had 3 winning seasons. The closest the Pacers have had to a Top 10 pick was #14 back in 2002 (I’m not counting their #11 pick this past year), and Indiana has had 4 winnings seasons.
And it’s not like the Luvabulls are enough to keep people coming back. Luckily Chicago is a big enough city that there’s usually people who like basketball enough that they’ll buy tickets.
So, now I’m hoping that Derrick Rose is going to be like Dwyane Wade was for Miami (before his injures, of course). I’m not counting on winning a championship in the next 3 years or anything (especially with the Lakers, Hornets, and/or Blazers ready to pound anyone who comes out of the East), but I’m just hoping that Rose provides a new cornerstone building block for the franchise to turn things around.
So, since this post was supposedly about Derrick Rose, I’ve included some pictures of another person who goes by the last name of Rose: Ms. Sativa Rose. If you need more info, feel free to Google, but be prepared for some Not Safe For Work action.

Damn! I don’t know which Rose I like more… and I love Derrick.
Anyway, please beat the Wizards tonight at home, we better. I’m glad I’ll get the game on TV in Colorado for the first time in a couple weeks. Go Bulls.
